Today let's continue exploring the sign of Scorpio. Scorpio is ruled by Mars according to ancient texts and ruled by a combination of Mars and Pluto in modern astrology: planets that signify strength and power. That being said, Scorpio is not an easy sign. It is the eighth house of the zodiac. And the 8th house is not considered an easy house.
To add to the complexity, Scorpio is a feminine sign. So it is not a Mars and Pluto set for action and forward movement. It is not a warrior ready for attack. It is the energy of the feminine strategist that waits, becomes receptive, yields to the circumstance and lays in wait for its prey.
Moon In Scorpio
Unlike Sun Signs, that can be figured out with your birthday alone, to know your Moon sign placements, you need to consult an ephemeris.
The moon is the symbol of your mind and emotions in astrology. What are the results for someone who has their moon placed in Scorpio? If Scorpio is the sign of power, people with their Moons placed in Scorpio, should have really powerful minds then?
Paradoxically, in traditional astrology it is quite the opposite.
The moon is debilitated in Scorpio. It is considered a difficult and weak placement.
The mind needs material. Whether in the form of sensory input or in the form of thoughts. When faced with the void of the 8th house or Scorpio the mind begins to play tricks here.
People with their moons placed in this sign often struggle to find a kind of stability, that others may take for granted. Some of them grasp at superstition, holy rituals and the feet of Gods. They are plagued by unknown fears, unnamed demons and unseen emotions.
Having a moon placed here doesn't necessarily mean that a person has a weak mind. I have observed several very smart people with this moon placement, whose minds work fabulously in the areas of work and education. But it is a mind that struggles with values of self worth, dark thoughts and uncontrollable emotions.
These people often feel like they have been overlooked by life in some way. This is even when their lives are blessed with material prosperity and success. They carry a sense of the hollowness of life.
The 8th House also deals with the themes of sudden events, unexpected happenings, the things that catch you off guard.
It is also the house of the rabbit holes of the mind, the sub conscious. It can bring up any buried and repressed emotions and thoughts.
Not exactly a pleasant place for the mind.
Double Edged Sword
Every disadvantage carries with it a seed of an advantage. Even with a debilitated moon , you can see with a different perspective, how things can work for you.
The 8th house/Scorpio also deals with uncovering layers, digging deep and discovery. When the same mind is ready to do the work, it can give very good results for a researcher, psychologist or a detective.
And if the person is willing to put in the effort, practicing meditation, repeatedly bringing the mind to face the void, they are engaging in the the highest practice worth doing.
The Transit Of The World At The Moment
When I talk of certain signs, nakshatras or houses people message me and ask if they have such a placement in their chart. They say they resonate with what I am saying.
The funny thing is sometimes they could have the placement, and sometimes not.
The reason they feel that they resonate with the knowledge of astrology is because astrology is a study system of the collective consciousness of man. It works through a system of symbols, codes and archetypes. Since we share a collective consciousness, and we walk the same Kaala Chakra Kundali, Time Wheel, we do resonate with different aspects of the chart, depending on our current planetary transits and influences.
And if we look at ourselves today as a collective, I would say pretty confidently that the world has been going through an 8th House/ Scorpionic transit for about half a decade now.
Unexpected things have been striking at us at regular intervals. The mind is struggling to make or keep sense.
If it's not the world at play, the earth herself seems to behave pretty erratically. earthquakes, floods and volcanoes. And today I heard the Arctic winds are not spinning hard enough, so this winter they are going to be let lose into the lower latitudes...brrrr!
People around us are withdrawn. Everything seems to be taken over by invisible systems. Some people say that even time is behaving in ways it hasn't before!
We never got any real answers. There has been no proper resolution. And accountability is a dead horse.
People now seem to have less patience.
There is fear and confusion everywhere.
And it is difficult to find answers in the maze of conflicting opinions.
Information, Knowledge ...Power
There was sense in what Francis Bacon said, knowledge does lead to power.
But today we are replacing knowledge with just collecting information. And we assume the means justify the ends. If we have to write something, we now believe that it would be stupid to sit and write it ourselves. Especially when we have a pretty cheap information Genie at our disposal.
And so we slowly give our power away, congratulating ourselves for the convenience we bought instead.
Knowledge is a different game altogether. It is a complex word that brings together the ideas of 'knowing' and 'practice'. 'Knowing' and 'Action'. Jnana and Karma.
It is good now, to assess where information is enough. And where you need to make the effort for knowledge instead.
And if you are so easily giving up your knowledge, what are you spending that time on?
Go Deeper, Connect With Your Roots
The Power Francis Bacon is talking about is a limited power. For knowledge has its limits. Whether it is AI or astrology.
It is good to use the power of the 8th house energy to research into what knowledge will help you now. It is good to put that into practice. And it is good to be a patient nourishing energy for yourself.
It is better that we reach far, further back towards timeless wisdom.
“Knowing others is intelligence;
knowing yourself is true wisdom.
Mastering others is strength;
mastering yourself is true power.”
― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
No matter how crazy your day is, take time out to meditate. Only when the mind is quiet, will we learn beyond the limits.
Life works in mysterious ways. Probably in the midst of all this madness, we will find a way to know ourselves. Probably when everything is in chaos we will learn to master ourselves.
You've Got This!
No matter what they say to you, life is far more than they would like us to believe. And you are not obsolete. If Ai is that amazing, imagine how we should feel every morning looking at ourselves!
In the darkness of the year, in this cold, nippy winter, in the last month of the Gregorian calendar, take a step back. Resolve to take a dip in silence everyday.
And it will draw us in, and show us the way.
