If You Want To Master A Habit

The trick is to start with Repetition, not Perfection.

JANUARY 2026

1/8/20263 min read

I've made a big decision for the year of 2026. I will not do mundane astrology this year. No, mundane doesn't mean boring. In astrological terms mundane is related to the root word 'mundial'/ mundanus= "of the world". Mundane astrology is studying the impact of the stars on world events.

The year is such, that the astrology of world events will be intense and chaotic. Personal astrology, astrology for the individual, on the other hand will be intensely wonderful. It is the year for incredible personal growth and power.

Currently, I am working with some amazing people, helping them unfold their dreams, and make steady progress on their goals.

At the same time, I am honing my own capabilities of making my dreams come true.

The posts of 2026 will focus on how you can feel your sense of power, how you can use your power to change. How you can sift through the noise to understand what change you seek to make, and how the stars guide you on your path.

Creating Space

How quickly 8 days of the year have whooshed past.

I made a wonderful decision after I wrote my last post.

I decided not to watch Youtube. I don't want to follow the news. I don't want to know what's happening with AI. And I decided content creators have to get by without me.

Within a week I have lost all traces of FOMO. My default habit when I get free time has changed from picking up my phone, to picking up a book. I am able to do my chores easily and somehow more efficiently. It's because I don't feel split. I don't feel that being a "scrolling zombie" is better than being a "DIY person".

How strange that earlier I had thought the scrolling zombie was a better option!

History maybe etching itself in the news of our times. But honestly, I couldn't care less.

And it's not that I don't think politics matters any longer. In fact, now is the time to make the most strategic political move- Understand your power.

The Current Skies

We have a week until the Sun moves out of Sagittarius. A week where things will be wobbly, unsettling and feel out of place. It is a time that is like soft, mushy clay.

From January 14th on wards things will start to settle in structures. Take on more rigidity and firmness.

Now is the time to finalize the mould. The present is truly a gift. Tomorrow on January 9th, Shukra/Venus is in his own nakshatra Purva Ashada. Guru/Jupiter is in his own nakshatra Punarvasu. They are going to look into each other's eyes.

At the same time Jupiter and Mercury are in parivartana, "exchange of houses".

The Sun and Mars also at the same degree as Venus, in Purva Ashada. And Mercury is in the same nakshatra as well just a few degrees behind.

The energy is busy, yet harmonious.

Sift and Sort

One of the symbols of Purva Ashada nakshatra is the winnowing basket. Traditionally rice is put on a winnowing basket and the basket is tossed up and down. This fanning motion of the basket separates the grain from stones. Have you ever chewed your rice happily and bit hard into a stone instead? Owwww.....not at all pleasant.

The winnowing basket separates the wheat from the chaff.

This week is your opportunity. Toss things around in your head one last time for the season. January 14th is the best time to get rid of what you don't want any longer. Start your process now. Pile up the things you don't use, that simply occupy space. That are just clutter. Start collecting them in bags and boxes.

If you made your list in the middle of December...congratulations! By now you must have thought about it for a fair amount of time. I hope you made some changes. Now you will be ready to identify what the chaff is in your stuff, in your daily routine, your habits....toss things about one last time....see what is worth keeping. Pile the rest up.

And then on January 14th- when it is Bhogi Pongal, that's the day you get rid of what you don't want.

And hang on! Don't buy anything new yet! We are trying to create some space, so energy can now move freely.

Brick by Brick

We are completely supported now. Even if things shake you up at the moment, they will only help you uncover the root of problems. The sea may seem a bit rocky, and you may feel a bit sea-sick, but then, just look up at the sky. Watch the clouds roll by. Time is moving slowly, making changes and setting the scenes of your future life.

Sometimes I ask myself why I'm harping about resolutions so much. At least four posts of mine have been about making a list. And I wouldn't mind writing another entire book about this as well.

Resolutions come from the Latin word that means - to loosen up, to break down or to release. We arrive at resolutions to solve our problems. To get clarity in our image. And we do it by breaking things down into smaller parts. "A man who moves a single pebble today, can move a mountain soon".

Pick up your pen. Don't let any one else write your script for you.
