Both Light And Shadow Are....
The Dance Of Love
AUGUST 2026

My hypnosis skills have become so keen, that I said 'You can choose to empty your mind', and for two weeks I was light-headed. And feeling good. I did however miss writing two blog posts. So let's do some catching up.
Today we are going to talk about eclipses. And wrap up our stay in Cancer.
Did you notice there was a Solar Eclipse yesterday?
For some life has become so busy that days simply tumble into each other. And leaves no time to observe energy shifts.
For some, who can be called hostages of astrology, eclipses mean remedies and rituals. And a lot of bribing of the cosmic forces.
Whichever point of the spectrum you're on, I think it's useful to see how you, and the people around you, behave according to the cycles of the Moon. Especially around No Moon and Full Moon days.
Do you find it difficult to sleep? Are you extra sensitive? Do you find yourself swallowing lumps of held back tears? Are you more talkative than usual? Do you find that you made some rash decisions?
It's possible that you find your moods swinging, emotions rising, energy peaking, or feeling depleted during these special Moon days.
And considering Eclipses happen either on No Moon, or Full Moon days, they pack an extra punch. 'They are No Moons or Full Moons on steroids.'
What Are Eclipses?
The Solar Eclipse occurs when the Moon covers the Sun. And casts its shadow on Earth. For this the Moon and the Sun are aligned on the same side. They are in Amavasya. Meeting. So Solar Eclipses always happen on No Moon days.
The Lunar Eclipse happens when the Earth's shadow falls on the Moon. The Sun is on one side of the Earth and the Moon directly opposite on the other side. Lunar Eclipses always happen on Full Moon, Poornima days.
We have two of each eclipses every year. ( In the Gregorian Calendar it could show up that certain years have more than two eclipses of the Sun and Moon. Because the calendar is not in alignment with true calculations.)
Wait A Minute....
Every month we have a No Moon and a Full Moon.....
Then how is it....that Eclipses happen only four times a year?
To know the answer.... You will have to walk with me....a little further...
Did you know...that a perfect, total Solar Eclipse is not possible on any other planet?
It happens only on the Earth.
It is part of a Sacred Geometry. And don't let any rational person tell you otherwise.
Mystery And Magic
If you are of relatively sane mind, and have lived in India, or have been exposed to Indian culture, you would surely have come across an intriguing aspect.
The Number 108.
Mantras are chanted not 100 times, but 108 times.
Prayer rosaries, have 108 beads.
There are 108 Upanishads.
Deities have 108 names.
Stotras such as the Vishnu Sahasranama have 108 verses.
The Sudarshana Chakra has 108 spiked edges.
The Sri Chakra has 108 points.
In Ayurveda there 108 marma points/ energy points in the human body.
In Yoga, 108 nadis converge to form the Heart Chakra. (This is important because it is believed that the Heart is the Seat of the Mind. Not the Brain.)
In Dance, 108 Karanas...
In Astrology, if you multiply the number of houses with the number of grahas 12 x 9 ......
And Did You Know?
You can fit 108 moons between the Earth and the Moon?
And......
You can fit 108 Suns between the Earth and the Sun!
The diameter of the Sun is 108 times bigger than the diameter of the Earth...
Not only that....the Sun is 400 times bigger than the Moon. And 400 times farther away from the Earth...
This makes the Sun and the Moon appear to be the same size for us on Earth.
And makes a perfect Solar Eclipse possible!
Mind Blowing...But....
That.....still doesn't explain why it doesn't happen every month...
Yeah....
How come the Moon is not perfectly covering the Sun every month? And how come the Earth's shadow is not blocking out every beautiful Full Moon?
This is because the orbit of the Moon is tilted.
Imagine a Giant Dosa. Put the Sun at the center. And the Earth a bit further away from the Sun.
All planets roam around the Sun, more or less on this Dosa plane. The Earth is exactly on the Dosa, while other planets are 8 degrees above or below the Dosa.
Now think of the Moon. The Moon is revolving around the Earth. While the Earth is revolving around the Sun.
While the Earth is moving on this Giant Dosa, imagine a Kodbole ring around the Earth. This Kodbole path is the Moon's path.
The Kodbole is tilted at an angel of 5 degrees from the Dosa.
Which means that the Kodbole is cutting the Dosa at two points.
So when the Moon is happily sliding along the Kodbole, there will be times when she crosses the Dosa. Either she is entering the Dosa from the top, 'descending' 5 degrees under the Dosa. Or she is coming up from under the Dosa, and continuing in her Kodbole circles/Orbit.
The points where the Kodbole/Orbit intersects the Dosa/Ecliptic are called the Nodes of the Moon.
And four times a year a spectacular alignment happens.
The Moon is at the Node, and lines up perfectly with the Sun and the Earth. Now because all three bodies are on the Ecliptic/Dosa; they are in a position to cast shadows, and are capable of covering each other perfectly.
At other times of her journey since the Moon is on the 5 degree tilted Kodbole Orbit, the shadow of the Earth doesn't fall on her. Nor does she cover the Sun.
Cosmic Spatial Architecture
In India, we included the Nodes, in our Astronomy. Astrology.
The Kodbole was seen as a Giant Serpent.
When the Moon ascended north of the Ecliptic, that point is the Head of the Dragon. And when she slips through south of the Ecliptic, she is passing the Tail of the Dragon.
The head is Rahu, or the North Node. The tail is Ketu, or the South Node.
Energy Portals
It is said that No Moons/ Amavasyas are good times to start ventures. And Full Moons/ Poornimas to tie up loose ends.
So imagine if it is an Amavasya or a Pournami when the Moon is at the Nodes.....aligning on the Ecliptic, with the Great Sun and the Beautiful Earth.......how do you think the energy of that feels?
We had a Solar Eclipse on August 12th. Which was a No Moon/Amavasya day.
Now the Moon will start growing slowly. As she changes position, we can see more and more sunlight reflect off of her.
Until it will be a Full Moon a fortnight later.
On August 28th, the Sun and Moon will be opposite each other. The Earth will be in between. And since we are in Eclipse season, the Moon that descended on August 12th into the Tail of the Dragon, will now Enter the Dragon, in her Full Moon state. And the Earth will cast a full shadow.
What Can You Look Out For?
This is an eclipse that has more Serpent Energy than other eclipses. This is because it involves the nakshatra Ashlesha.
Cancer starts off with the benevolent, morally upright, decent nakshatra of Punarvasu, it moves into Pushya, which is the most nourishing of all nakshatras, and wraps up in Ashlesha.
Ashlesha is deadly. There's no other way to put it. These are the people you brush away as 'Oh s/he wouldn't know how to bite my finger, even if I shoved it into their mouth'. They are the large puppy eyed, baby talk kind of people...who can stab you, slash you for effect and destroy you with their venom.
Ashlesha is the sign of the Serpent. It carries with it the intelligence of the Snake. Can be highly intuitive. Can be very loyal.
But if you do step on its coils, you can tell yourself that 'Venom can also be medicine'.
The sting of the Scorpio is deadly. But you expect it. Because of the intensity of Scorpio. And the Scorpio stings for its own protection.
With Ashlesha, the attack is all the more destructive, because you were too naive.....by imagining the Ashlesha native was.
How Do We Use The Energy Of This?
For what's left of August and until September 10th, you may come across harsh words, accusations, people lashing out.
Or on the contrary, you may be doing that yourself.
Go easy. On others. And yourself.
Another thing to do now, is to let go. Intentionally.
Look at your friends, habits, vices....if they seem more like an obligation....like you're doing it and not getting anything in return....not feeling anything.....and you think maybe if you do more......and even then .....it's just not cutting it......then...
Let it go....
The word Eclipse means 'to abandon'.
On The Other Hand
The word Grahana means 'to grasp'. The same window of time has an alignment that creates a gripping energy.
What will you use it for?
Things you start now will have power. Intentions you set can re-write your sub-conscious programming.
There is an eclipse that happens on February 6th, 2027. That eclipse will show you how the plan you made now, is working out.
The Week Ahead
If you ask me....a good suggestion is ...stilling the Mind until September 8th.
Let go of devices. Do it consciously. Put it away.
Sit in silence.
Listen to repetitive chants. Or music that stills your mind. Do this in moderation. Don't get obsessed.
Do things with your hands. Chores. Cleaning. Craft. Cooking. Gardening. Writing.
Take a walk.
Anything that helps you be mindless. Is a good idea.
Energy wise- there will be a shift on August 17th. When we move into a whole new month.
Otherwise, Venus is not too comfortable where she is. Nor is Mars.
And it's Eclipse Season to top that.
Take it easy...
The silver lining is Jupiter and Mercury together in the mix. What can you learn about your Communication?
Rather than looking at how you should improve it etc.....
More importantly, allow communication to take place. Listen. Speak.
Reflect on things that come up. And use this energy to break loops.
Cancer is also connected with rhythm. And this is a time for breaking old loopy patterns of communication.
Take some rest. Enjoy your silence.
See you next week.
